Today, adidas Running announces the Adizero Adios Pro 5, the next chapter of its marathon racing footwear series. Built with insight from the world record-holding Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, the model democratizes the sub-2-hour-racing experience by boasting a more durable, but equally innovation-forward ride.

Right off the bat, the Three Stripes promises weight savings of 12% when compared to the Adios Pro 4, which, over the course of 26.2 miles, is easier on the legs. Additionally, the engine underfoot (midsole foam plus carbon stiffening element) delivers a 9% increase in energy return, meaning you work a little less to hit the same speeds.

The adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5 has been fine-tuned to help runners sustain speed, and achieve greater comfort and stability deeper into the marathon distance. This results in a shoe that's 23 grams (0.81 ounces) lighter than the Adizero Adios Pro 4, coming in at an average weight of 177g (6.24oz) for a Men's U.S. size 9.

The design team at adidas achieved a highly-capable, lightweight package on the Adios Pro 5 by way of a number of innovative elements, including:

• A redesigned LIGHTLOCK 2.0 upper engineered with strategic ventilation zones, internal support bands & an improved heel construction for more weight reduction & enhanced comfort
• New ENERGYRIM technology, which replaces the carbon-infused ENERGYRODS system; allows for a greater volume of responsive foam directly underfoot while providing precisely-tuned stiffness for stability & propulsion in every stride
• Latest-generation LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam tuned to deliver maximum energy return over the marathon distance
• A re-engineered outsole that combines LIGHTTRAXION & Continental™ rubber coverage for lightweight, reliable traction
  

adidas has shared that the Adios Pro 5 "is the most extensively tested, validated and studied shoe in the history of the Adizero franchise." More than 25 athletes in Kenya, Ethiopia, and the U.S. put the design through real-world tests, which combined with the brand's long-term, in-house performance benchmarks and independent biomechanical research to ensure the model was a step forward in the Adizero line's pursuit of lightweight speed.

The Adizero Adios Pro 5 releases globally today, Sept. 22, via adidas.com. The marathon racer is offered in sizing for Men and Women, and is priced at $275. It debuts in an eye-catching "Solar Turbo/Core Black/Lucid Red" color scheme ahead of the 2026 Berlin Marathon, with a plethora of more styles expected to release over the next 18+ months.
