What happens when one of adidas’ most recognizable sneakers stops trying to be a sneaker at all?
That question sits at the center of Edison Chen’s latest experiment with adidas, as the CLOT founder pushes the Superstar further into unfamiliar territory with the upcoming CLOT x adidas Dress Superstar “Cow Print.” Equal parts formal shoe and cultural provocation, the silhouette continues Chen’s ongoing exploration of how far heritage footwear can be stretched without losing its identity.
At its core, the model reworks the Superstar through a formalwear lens. The familiar shell-toe remains intact up front, anchoring the design in adidas history, while everything beneath it shifts direction. A stacked, loafer-style sole replaces the traditional rubber cupsole, instantly changing the shoe's posture and signaling its intent to sit well outside traditional streetwear categories.
The upper leans fully into that tension. Hairy pony-hair panels wrap the sidewalls in an all-over cow print, giving the shoe texture, movement, and a sense of intentional excess. Cream leather extends to the toe and tongue, balancing the busier pattern while keeping the silhouette grounded. Jagged tongue edges introduce a slightly deconstructed feel, while tassels at the laces add a nod to classic dress shoes — a detail that feels deliberate rather than ironic.

As with much of CLOT’s adidas output, the design isn’t about shock value alone. The cow print choice feels playful, but it also taps into the broader theme of material exploration that has defined Chen’s work with the Three Stripes, especially across hybrid silhouettes like the Dress Superstar. It’s less about making a novelty shoe and more about reframing what formal footwear can look like in a modern, culturally fluent context.
No official release date has been confirmed, but the CLOT x adidas Dress Superstar “Cow Print” is expected to arrive early in 2026 as part of the brand’s continued collaborative lineup. Stay tuned for more details as adidas and CLOT reveal what’s next.
