Brands have been moving earlier and earlier when it comes to signing young talent, whether that’s emerging streamers building audiences online or basketball prospects still years away from college.
The latest example is RJ Evans, with adidas Basketball signing the 15-year-old Class of 2029 guardto the Three Stripes.
Evans is the son of former NBA forward Reggie Evans and has already started building a name for himself on the grassroots circuit. He has competed with Austin Rivers SE Eliteon adidas’ 3SSB circuit, often playing up against older competition, while also earning time with USA Basketball’s junior national program.
The partnership keeps Evans within an adidas ecosystem he is already familiar with, rather than introducing him to the brand for the first time. He also took part in the revived adidas ABCD Campthis summer as his profile continued to grow.
At 15, there is still plenty of basketball ahead of Evans, but the signing is another example of brands building relationships with athletes much earlier in their careers.
More details on RJ Evans’ partnership with adidas Basketballare expected to follow.
