Sporty & Rich Kicks Off adidas Stan Smith "City Series" in L.A.

adidas Originals is taking the Stan Smith on a tour as part of its latest "City Series" collection. The first stop has been made in Los Angeles to visit Sporty & Rich on Melrose Ave.

Although the sleek leather shoe proved itself on the tennis court more than 50 years ago, it's enjoyed second, third, and fourth lives as an easy-to-wear, fashionable shoe since the late 1970s. The Three Stripes' next "City Series" aims to showcase both the silhouette's versatility as a canvas of expression and place in culture-at-large—in particular among creatives.

"The Stan Smith has always had this quiet confidence to it," shared Emily Oberg, Founder and CEO of Sporty & Rich. "It's classic, it's clean, and it goes with everything, which made it an easy shoe to want to celebrate in our space."

The full scope of the Stan Smith "City Series" collection remains unknown, but it seems that the project will not include any collaborations; instead, the group of elevated footwear will simply be unveiled in select cities with the help of cultural hubs based in said cities.

The Los Angeles pair features a golden callout to the "City of Angels" on the inner lining in addition to a hairy suede Achilles' heel panel and faux reptile skin across the upper. The overall shape of the Stan Smith seems to be based on pairs from the 1980s.

The Three Stripes has not confirmed that an adidas.com release is in the works, but handfuls of other Stan Smiths are scheduled to launch throughout 2027.
