Tyrrell Winston Transforms the adidas Lightblaze POD

adidas continues to blur the line between sport and art with a new partnership alongside Detroit-based artist Tyrrell Winston. Known for his “deflated basketball” works — pieces that repurpose discarded sports equipment into striking installations — Winston brings his philosophy of transformation to footwear through the debut of the adidas x Tyrrell Winston Lightblaze POD.

First introduced by adidas in late 2025, the Lightblaze POD serves as the foundation for the collaboration. Winston approaches the silhouette as a “blank canvas,” encouraging wearers to create their own story through natural wear and use. The result is a sneaker designed not to remain pristine, but to evolve over time.

The adidas x Tyrrell Winston Lightblaze POD arrives in a subdued Wonder Alumina and White Overpaint colorway, built with canvas uppers that echo materials more commonly associated with painting than performance footwear. Subtle overpaint effects and lightly weathered textures reinforce the artistic theme, while the neutral palette keeps the focus on the material itself.

Underfoot, the model retains the modern tooling that defines the Lightblaze line. Sculpted Lightstrike pods made from Super Critical Foam (SCF) provide lightweight cushioning and everyday comfort, translating technology from adidas Running’s Adizero family into a lifestyle-focused silhouette.

The campaign accompanying the release features Winston alongside his daughter, Helaena, emphasizing the personal and generational storytelling that runs through the artist’s work.
