Jordan Brand is bringing back one of Carmelo Anthony’s earliest signature sneakers, with the Jordan Melo 5.5 expected to receive its first-ever retro release in Summer 2027.
Originally released during Anthony’s early years with the Denver Nuggets, the Melo 5.5 served as his second signature model with Jordan Brand. The shoe arrived at a key point in Melo’s career, as he was quickly becoming one of the league’s brightest young stars and one of Jordan Brand’s most important athletes of the 2000s.

The model’s name comes from its design language, which blends elements from the Air Jordan 5 and Air Jordan 6. The Melo 5.5 featured a mid-cut build, perforated panels, visible Air cushioning, and a look that tied back to Jordan Brand’s performance basketball DNA while still giving Anthony his own signature identity.
For its first retro run, only the Black/Taxi/University Blue/Metallic Silver colorway is currently expected to release. The palette connects closely to Anthony’s Denver era, pairing a black-based upper with bright blue and yellow hits, silver detailing, Melo branding, and Jumpman logos throughout.
While additional colorways could surface later, this marks the first confirmed step in the Melo 5.5’s return. The comeback gives longtime Melo fans and Jordan collectors another chance at a model that helped define his early signature line.
The Jordan Melo 5.5 “Black/Taxi/University Blue/Metallic Silver” is expected to release in Summer 2027. More details, pricing, and official images should surface closer to launch.
For more 2027 Jordan releases, the Air Jordan 16 "Ginger" is making its first-ever return.
