Allen Iverson Inspires Naomi Osaka’s Custom Who Decides War Look

Naomi Osaka brought a little basketball culture to the US Open, arriving in a custom Who Decides War look inspired by Allen Iverson before advancing to the second round.

The outfit pulls directly from Iverson’s unmistakable early-2000s style. Osaka wore her hair in braids with a black-and-red headband, pairing the look with mismatched black and red arm sleeves — a clear nod to the accessories Iverson regularly wore during his Philadelphia 76ers days.

From there, Who Decides War took the tribute somewhere entirely different. Osaka’s custom look was built around an oversized distressed grey hooded piece covered in raw edges, patchwork and layered details, extending into a dramatic white tulle skirt. The contrast between Iverson’s on-court uniform and the exaggerated fashion silhouette made the reference recognizable without simply recreating it.

The outfit was styled by Law Roach and designed by Who Decides War’s Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore, continuing Osaka’s run of using her US Open entrances as a space for fashion and storytelling.

Osaka even summed up the inspiration herself: “You want basketball? I’ll give you basketball.”

The tribute carried onto the court, too. Osaka continued wearing the black-and-red arm sleeves and headband during competition, further tying her US Open look to Iverson’s signature aesthetic before securing her place in the tournament’s second round.
