This month has seen the grandmas out in force, with viral clips from Madrid showing abuelas lining up to secure Nigel Sylvester’s Air Jordan 4 "Brick After Brick" collaboration. But while Jordan Brand had the grandmothers moving through raffles and release lines, New Balance is here with something for the grandpas — specifically for use on the shuffleboard courts.

The New Balance Allerdale "Off White" arrives as one of the cleanest entries yet for the Made in England model, leaning fully into the kind of quiet, practical styling that has helped New Balance turn old-man footwear into a modern uniform. It is not loud, fast, or trend-heavy in color blocking. Instead, it feels like a premium walking shoe dressed for the clubhouse, the course, or a slow lap around the neighborhood.

Named after England’s Allerdale District, home to New Balance’s UK manufacturing base in Flimby, the model carries the same craftsmanship-first approach that defines the brand’s Made in England range. The silhouette itself sits somewhere between a traditional walking shoe, a classic court sneaker, and a refined casual trainer, making it one of the more lifestyle-focused additions to New Balance’s current catalog.

This "Off White" colorway keeps things especially understated. A soft off-white leather upper covers most of the build, giving the shoe a clean, slightly aged look without pushing too far into vintage cosplay. The leather appears tumbled throughout, adding a natural texture that helps the pair avoid looking too plain. Tonal stitching and subtle embroidered New Balance branding on the lateral side keep the finish quiet, while the matching midsole and outsole maintain the monochrome look from top to bottom.

The main contrast arrives inside the shoe, where tan leather lining adds warmth to the otherwise neutral palette. It is a small detail, but one that works well with Allerdale’s wider personality. The green Ortholite-branded insoles add another soft hit of color, reinforcing the shoe’s comfort-first focus without disrupting the exterior.

Underfoot, the Allerdale continues to lean into practicality. The model is fitted with Ortholite insoles and FuelCell foam cushioning, bringing modern comfort tech into a silhouette that looks far more traditional at first glance. That combination helps explain why the Allerdale feels so distinct in New Balance’s current lineup. It has the premium build and old-world charm of a Made in England release, yet it still offers enough underfoot support to serve as a genuine everyday option.

The New Balance Allerdale "Off White" is expected to release soon via NewBalance.com and select retailers.
