Africa's Street Souk Gets a Special Nike Air Force 1 Collaboration
Iretidayo Zaccheaus founded Street Souk in 2018 with a simple goal: celebrate and champion the vibrant streetwear culture of Africa. Over the last eight years, the platform has become the continent's largest annual streetwear convention and a hub for youth culture.
As NIKE, Inc. begins to make inroads in Africa, it seems the Swoosh has invited Street Souk to develop a Nike Air Force 1 collaboration. It's unclear whether or not the "Rage Green/White"-colored sneaker will see a public launch, but the project is the latest example of the world's biggest sportswear brand linking up with niche creatives to shine the spotlight on the great work they do.
The earliest picture of the shoe, shared on social media by Instagram user @kicksdong, showcases an elevated take on Bruce Kilgore's "presidential" design. As with so many iconic Air Force 1s from over the years, the approach has been kept simple on the collaboration: a two-tone upper is accompanied by embroidered collaborator logos on the lateral heel and Achilles' heel panel.
A scale-reminiscent leather appears throughout the shoe.
