Fresh off receiving Diana Taurasi's blessing in wearing the number 12 for Team USA Women's Basketball, Caitlin Clark has recently been linked to another special-edition of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro basketball sneaker.
Reported by Romania's Sneaker Market, the news arrives after the late Kobe Bryant's signature sneaker series has been linked to well-established professionals in the NBA and rising talent at the college level like Aaliyah Chavez of the Oklahoma Sooners Women's Basketball Team.
According to early reports, Clark's next Protro features a "Coconut Milk/Bright Spruce/Midnight Spruce/University Red/White" color scheme. Early in-hand shots by Instagram user @prm.cotd confirm depictions of a previous speculative mock-up, which portrays the design as boasting "Coconut Milk" across most of its build. Rich blue tones arrive along the tongues, across the forefoot, and at the profile Swooshes. It's possible the ensemble draws inspiration from the Charolette Hornets' colors as a nod to the team that originally drafted Bryant in the 1996 NBA Draft.
A key part of the Nike Basketball family, Clark is revving up for her own signature sneaker—be it the Caitlin 1, CC 1, or some other marketable variation. Until then, however, the WNBA superstar will continue to dominate the hardwood in Bryant's line.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com launch details as the expected Monday, June 1, release inches closer. And for more from the Swoosh empire, check out all upcoming Jordan releases.
