The Air Force 1 doesn’t need much help standing out. More than four decades after its debut, Bruce Kilgore’s icon is still one of Nike’s most recognizable sneakers, a silhouette that can take almost any material, color, or concept and still feel unmistakably like itself. For Fall 2026, Nike is leaning into that legacy with a much louder take: the Air Force 1 Low “Horse of a Different Color.”
Official images show the classic low-top completely transformed through a shaggy pony hair-style upper, dressed in a vivid mix of Campfire Orange and Sunset tones. The finish covers nearly the entire shoe, including the panels, overlays, Swoosh, heel, tongue, and eyestays, giving the model a wild, tactile feel without changing the familiar AF1 shape underneath.
The rest of the pair keeps things simple. Tonal orange laces, tongue labels, lace dubraes, and heel embroidery allow the textured upper to remain the focus, while a clean white midsole breaks up the color below. A translucent orange outsole completes the look, tying the whole design back into the same fiery palette.
The “Horse of a Different Color” name fits the execution, but it also works as a neat reminder of the Air Force 1’s staying power. The shoe itself is already an icon; this version simply pushes that status through a more expressive lens, trading traditional leather for a full-material statement.
This pair is also expected to be part of a larger “Pony Hair” Air Force 1 series, with three textured variations reportedly set to release across the year. The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Horse of a Different Color” is currently expected to release during Fall 2026 for $140 USD.
