Nike continues to push the boundaries of its most iconic silhouettes, and the Air Force 1 is often the first model to receive experimental updates. Over the years, the Bruce Kilgore-designed staple has been reworked through countless material upgrades and technical collaborations. One of the most recognizable has been Nike’s long-running partnership with GORE-TEX, which has delivered weather-resistant Air Force 1 releases for fall and winter seasons while preserving the shoe’s classic DNA. Now, Nike is exploring another technical direction with the debut of the Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram, a collaboration that reimagines the traction system beneath the timeless silhouette.
At first glance, the Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram remains remarkably faithful to the model’s familiar structure. The layered paneling, perforated toe box, and bold Swoosh branding remain intact, preserving the unmistakable shape that has defined the Air Force 1 for decades. The biggest shift arrives underfoot, where the traditional Air Force 1 outsole has been redesigned with Vibram’s signature high-performance rubber traction.
The outsole upgrade introduces a rugged tread pattern built to deliver improved grip and durability compared to the original tooling. Vibram’s recognizable yellow badge appears near the heel, signaling the partnership while adding a subtle pop of contrast against the otherwise tonal sole units. While the tooling changes the model's performance capabilities, the overall design still reads unmistakably as an Air Force 1, maintaining the balance between innovation and heritage.
Up top, Nike equips the Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram with ripstop-style grid textiles, bringing a lightweight, technical aesthetic to the classic build. Smooth leather Swooshes contrast against the textured base layers, while tonal laces and nylon tongues continue the understated material story.

Three colorways have surfaced ahead of the release. The “Pencil Point” pair arrives in dark greys with a Volt grid pattern running across the ripstop upper, delivering a subtle tech-driven look. The “Summit White” option softens the design with Light Bone and muted grey tones layered across the same grid textile. Rounding out the trio is a vibrant “Silt Red” version, pairing warm red hues with Light Violet Ore and bright pink grid detailing for a more striking execution.
While this is not the first time Vibram soles have been utilized by the Air Force 1 — the two linked up with GORE-TEX on a trio of Air Force 1s in 2025 — this project stands as a standalone collaboration between Nike and Vibram.
Nike has yet to confirm official release details for the Nike Air Force 1 Low Vibram collection, but the three colorways are expected to arrive in the coming months.
