As the anticipation mounts for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game in Seattle, Nike Baseball has decided to honor one of the city's most legendary players, Ken Griffey Jr., with a phenomenal adaptation of the Air Griffey Max 2, this time transforming it into a pair of studded cleats.

The Air Griffey Max 2 Cleats are set to be unveiled in July, making them the perfect tribute to the Emerald City during the All-Star Game festivities. The original Air Griffey Max 2, a classic baseball sneaker from 1997, is reimagined here with a luxurious twist.

The upper is crafted from a sumptuous cream-tinted tumbled leather, lending an air of elegance and quality to the silhouette. The richness of the cream extends across the mudguard, dimpled sidewalls, and even to the sliver of mesh at the heel, creating a harmonious and tonal foundation. Dark tan accents tastefully embellish the tongue and collar lining, complementing the creamy base.

A crisp white midsole along with matching laces and loops effortlessly add a touch of brightness to the design, while the silver metallic studs ensure that these cleats are ready for any playing surface - be it turf, grass, or otherwise.

The shoe further embraces the spirit of Seattle with eye-catching green and tan Swooshes, shaped like diamonds, at the forefoot. Additionally, the lateral TPU plate at the heel takes on a grid-like aesthetic, mingling black and green shades.

But what truly makes this pair special are the embroidery details: the Swingman logos at the heel are set in jet black, and an exclusive All-Star logo featuring Seattle’s majestic Mount Rainier provides a stunning finish to this homage.

Grab a detailed look at the pair below, and expect to see this new Griffey cleat hit select Swoosh stockists and Nike.com on July 10th — so be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
