Nike Gives the Air Max Plus a Premium “Oil Slick” Finish

Nike's Air Max Plus has never needed much help standing out, but this new Premium edition pushes the Tuned Air classic into even louder territory.

Arriving in an “Oil Slick” finish, the pair keeps the base mostly black before layering the upper with an altered, speed-struck, dripping iridescent cage that shifts between green, blue, purple, bronze, and gold tones. The effect covers the signature flame-like overlays across the sides, giving Sean McDowell’s late-’90s runner a glossy, color-shifting look without losing the model’s familiar shape.

Black mesh sits underneath, while matching black laces, lining, and tooling keep the rest of the pair anchored. Glossy black patent panels appear at the toe and mudguard, with a matching black midsole and visible Air units below. Small yellow hits on the outsole add one more flash of color underfoot.

The Nike Air Max Plus Premium “Oil Slick” is expected to release via Nike.com and select retailers, though no confirmed release date has been announced yet. Stay tuned for further updates.
