Devin Booker and his Nike Basketball Family continue to pay homage to the past through the Nike Book 2. For its latest trip down memory lane, the silhouette has landed in February 2009, drawing inspiration from the "Eggplant" Air Foamposite One.
The Phoenix Suns guard has been rather vocal about his personal affinity with classic designs. From his car collection to his everyday, off-court footwear choices, Booker has proven that he "lives his raps." Some netizens have disapproved of the Nike Book signature series featuring heavy references to models like the Air Force 1 Low (1983) and Air Zoom Spiridon (1997) while other have celebrated retro aesthetics mixing with modern performance.
The "Eggplant" Book 2 is just the latest example of this blend. Teased by the NBA All-Star himself, the pair is clad in a "Varsity Purple/Black" color scheme. Along, the choice in hues wouldn't be enough to draw comparisons to the "Eggplant" Foams from '09, but the molded Foamposite-like material seen across the sneaker's upper drives the comparison home.

It's important to note that Booker's purple-clad basketball shoe is just the latest pair to surface with some inspiration from the Foamposite series, which kicked off in 1997. With the future-forward, innovative technology celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2027, Nike is readying up handfuls of different releases for all "Foamheads"—including Vaporposite Pro Cleats and a "Team Red" Nike SB Foamposite One.
Stay tuned for official photos of the "Eggplant" Book 2. Pairs are expected to launch via Nike.com on Monday, Aug. 10.
