Patta's "Waves" Nike Mercurial Football Boots Release May 5

Based in Amsterdam with ties to Suriname, Patta has long had a connection with football. Co-founders Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt and Edson Sabajo have leveraged their relationship with Nike, Inc. over the last few years to celebrate "the beautiful game," and it seems that the boutique will help the Swoosh get ready for the 2026 World Cup™ with special product launches and activations.

During the UEFA Champions League Final in Munich, Schmidt previewed Patta's Nike Cryo Shot collaboration. With 2025 winding down, the Dutch imprint has been linked to a modern Nike Football project: a Mercurial Vapor 16 and Mercurial Superfly 10.

The capsule has yet to be confirmed by official parties, but product shots have begun making rounds across social media. Content depicts Patta's take on the performance footwear designs as falling in line with the "Waves" Air Max 1 collaboration from 2022. A curved mudguard donning a miniature swoosh on the lateral forefoot appears on the mixed-material, sock-like upper; the wavy detail sees asymmetric white and black finishes between right and left shoes, respectively. Patta logos appear on the collar's front-side as well as on the insoles. Zoom Air units underfoot also don a nod to Schmidt and Sabajo's team, with stud plates rounding out the makeover in an iridescent execution.

On Tuesday, April 28, the official Nike Football Instagram account confirmed that Patta's Mercurial UNITE Vapor 16 would launch on Tuesday, May 5. Additional pairs are expected to hit retail in more limited quantities, but no word has been shared on that end.

In the lead up to the football boots' release, Patta co-founders have been teasing the "Unmatched Pre-Match" Netherlands Collection, a performance-informed lineup that blends street style and national pride, developed in partnership with the country's football governing body.

Patta's wavy Mercurial boots launch exclusively via Nike SNKRS and Patta on May 5.
