Nike Football’s revival of the Mercurial Superfly 1 is continuing with a fittingly loud follow-up for Cristiano Ronaldo.
After bringing back the original CR7 “Max Orange” colorway earlier this year, Nike is now preparing a gold edition of the Nike Mercurial Superfly 1 RGN, extending the return of one of the most important boots in Ronaldo’s career. The pair keeps the same early Superfly DNA intact, but pushes the presentation into full trophy mode with a metallic gold finish across the upper and soleplate.
The boot arrives in a shimmering gold build with a ribbed synthetic upper, a Flywire-style structure, and a low-cut shape that defined the original Superfly 1 era. A large white Swoosh cuts across the lateral side, while matching white laces keep the focus on the metallic finish. Underfoot, the modernized RGN setup pairs the throwback upper with updated tooling, continuing Nike Football’s approach of bringing archived Mercurial silhouettes back in a form built for the modern game.
What separates this pair from a standard colorway is the CR7 detailing. The medial side features Ronaldo’s signature across the Swoosh, while the heel carries oversized “CR” and Mercurial branding. Inside, the pair is expected to include large “GOAT” lettering across the insoles, making the tribute clear without needing much explanation.

The release follows the 2026 return of the original Superfly 1 colorway, a boot long tied to Ronaldo’s rise at the top level. First introduced in 2009, the Mercurial Superfly 1 was Nike Football’s elite speed boot of the time, pairing a lightweight synthetic upper with Flywire support and a carbon fiber plate. Its original launch has become part of football boot lore, with the “Max Orange” edition remaining one of the most talked-about Mercurials of its generation.
This gold version feels like a more celebratory continuation of that story. With Ronaldo still at the center of Nike Football’s global presence, the colorway leans directly into legacy, status, and the ongoing conversation around his place in the sport’s history.
Pairs were originally expected to release on July 18, though that timing may have shifted. Following Portugal’s 1-1 draw against DR Congo, Nike may be holding the launch for a more fitting moment around Ronaldo’s next major appearance.
Expect the Cristiano Ronaldo Nike Mercurial Superfly 1 RGN “Gold” to release in Summer 2026. More details should follow soon.
