There's a chance you clicked into this story thinking you were reading about the highly-viral Miu Miu x New Balance 530 collaboration. Thanks to Nike, however, you'll no longer need to shell out over $1,000 to get a trendy, thin-soled, and highly-versatile sneaker complete with multiple lace options.

Meet: Sprint Sister, a largely-forgotten silhouette born in 1979 as an innovative track spike for women.

Last seen in 2005 as a Nike Sportswear offering donning a modified last, the Sprint Sister indulged in a number of different color schemes and material executions that firmly cemented it as a year-round footwear option for "it" girls. Premium mid-top versions were also seen throughout the mid-2000s, but the low-profile, closer-to-the-OG take was the most popular.

As Bryon Schroeder, former Global Design Director for NSW Footwear, wrote about his time working on 2005's Nike Sprint Sister retro: It was the "first short to middle distance track spike specifically designed for women. It was both ahead of its time, and a long time coming. The 2005 version pays tribute to this unique and defining shoe for female athletes. The 2005 Sprint Sister uses a new last inspired by the original shoe, focusing on shape and fit, and engineered to meet the demands of 21st century living."

With the re-appearance of the 47-year-old design, it's evident the Swoosh wants to meet modern women where they are—especially considering the success of competitors' sleek, track and football-inspired footwear offerings.

Nike's own collaboration with JACQUEMUS on the "Moon Shoe" has enjoyed particular success amongst fashionable consumers. Solange Knowles even starred in the project's latest campaign, signaling exactly who the collab's target audience is.

The full scope of the Sprint Sister's third go-around is yet to be seen, but its inaugural "Ridgerock/Ocean Cube/Dark Cinder/Sail" color scheme is sure to draw attention for its semblance to the aforementioned miu miu New Balance.

Expect future styles to explore a healthy mix of refined, smart finishes and eye-catching ensembles.

Enjoy official product shots of the Women's Sprint Sister ahead. Pairs should land via Nike.com throughout the end of summer and throughout fall.
