R.A.D® is turning a factory mistake into its next limited release with the R.A.D® ONE V2 “Factory Special,” dropping August 27.
The colorway was never part of the original plan. During production of the ONE V2, the factory assembled a prototype using leftover materials and spare components. When the mismatched sample reached R.A.D® headquarters, its patchwork color blocking and raw, unfinished feel immediately caught the team’s attention.
Rather than scrapping it, R.A.D® approved a small production run that keeps the accidental details intact — including the upside-down branding seen on the original sample.
The release will be extremely limited, with 50 pairs reserved as gifts for early members of the R.A.D® community. The remaining pairs will be made available to the public, and like many of the brand’s releases, the colorway is not expected to return once it sells out.
“When the factory team sent over the sample, it was an instant reaction from the team,” R.A.D® founder Ben Massey said. “It looked incredible and we knew it helped us tell the story of how shoes are made.”
The R.A.D® ONE V2 “Factory Special” releases exclusively through R.A.D® on August 27 at 11 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. BST, priced at $150 / £130.
