Germany’s adidas “Farewell” Kit Closes Out a 70-Year Partnership

adidas and the German national team have unveiled their final kit together, bringing one of football’s longest-running apparel partnerships toward its close.

Named the “Farewell” third kit, the black-and-gold design arrives ahead of Germany’s move to Nike in 2027, ending a relationship with adidas that began in 1954.

The shirt uses an all-black base covered in thin vertical gold pinstripes, with additional gold and white detailing around the V-neck collar and sleeves. adidas’ Three Stripes run across the shoulders, while the Originals Trefoil takes its place on the chest.

Germany also brings back the DFB crest used between 1978 and 1996, adding another archival element to the final release. A small “1954” detail stitched near the base of the shirt references the year adidas and Germany first began working together.

The kit arrives as a final nod to a partnership that spanned seven decades and some of Germany’s biggest moments on the international stage. Nike is set to take over as the federation’s apparel supplier beginning in 2027.
