ICE Studios & adidas Originals Brought Together "It Girls" for Softball & Community

What happens when you gather over 40 different "It Girls" to play softball in New York City's East Harlem neighborhood? Renell Medrano, photographer and creative director-extraordinaire, found out over the weekend as part of her second annual ICE Studios City Series softball tournament, powered by adidas Originals.

Inspired by Medrano's upbringing in The Bronx, the event has served as both a chance to gather community and showcase that women from all walks of life play sports, too. Some of the participants in the ICE Studios City Series include: Bernice Burgos, Momo Boyd, and Karrueche Tran.

"[S]ome of my favorite memories came from being part of a team," shared Medrano. "As I got older, I realized how much I missed that sense of community, so I started ICE Studios City Series to bring women together through sport. It's about unity, making new connections and creating memories together. My hope is that it continues to grow into a community where women show up for each other year after year. Seeing everyone fully present and enjoying the day together is what it's all about."

Participants in the ICE Studios community event were largely decked out in adidas Softball gear, but some players naturally personalized their outfits given their creative tendencies.

Two of the popular non-cleat options worn throughout the Saturday in East Harlem were the Megaride F50 and F50 Taekwondo, silhouettes that blend football heritage with modern trends. Could this be a teaser for an eventual ICE Studios x adidas sneaker collaboration? Only time will tell.
