Nike Celebrates Jackie Robinson Day With Special Baseball Cleats

NIKE, Inc. continues to commemorate the enduring legacy of Jackie Robinson with new product launches in time for April 15, the date that marks the anniversary of the player's historic debut in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Previously, the budget-friendly V5 RNR appeared in a black and off white color scheme and with "42" iconography on the tongue. A newly-surfaced Diamond Standout baseball cleat indulges in similar elements, as well as other nods to Robinson—including his name on the spine of each shoe and a graphic of him sliding underneath the fold-over tongue.

The cleats' design proposal is simple, but its importance cannot be overstated.
