It's not official, but all signs point to Yeat and Hiroshi Fujiwara recently having previewed Nike's big bold bet for Air Max Day 2026. The sneaker's name?: Air Liquid Max.
Reminiscent of the future-forward Dynamic Air styles of the last couple of years, the latest silhouette to join the storied Air Max series ups the eye-catching ante by a lot. One pair to surfaced exactly one month before the 39th anniversary of the original Air Max's debut sees different shades of green across its upper, which appears to have little-to-no seams. The model's most-defining detail, however, is, without a doubt, the sole unit underfoot.

As its name suggests, the Air Liquid Max features a modified version of M. Frank Rudy's Nike innovation from over 40 years ago. The tube-shaped components that made up cushioning systems for the Dn and Dn8 are seemingly flattened and widened to create a pillowy "crust" around the bottom of the new design, resulting in a visual that's sure to inspire double-takes.
Perhaps like the Air Tuned Max from 1999, which is rumored to have an UNDEFEATED collaboration on the way, Air Liquid Max could introduce a new way for wearers to enjoy Nike Air cushioning from a technological standpoint. The apparent thickness of the full-length unit, coupled with its peculiar fragmentation and shape, surely help distribute Air in each step differently than other Air Max offerings.
A new type of tread coverage could also contribute to an experimental ride—one the Swoosh is betting big on as it approaches the 40th anniversary of one of its most important franchises of all-time.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details for the Air Liquid Max. The silhouette is expected to retail for $230.
