The Nike Air Max Plus Gets A "Bred" Gradient Update
Sean McDowell's beloved Nike Air Max Plus has undergone numerous modifications since debuting in 1998. One such detail that has endured the test of time is its use of bold gradients across its upper. The latest arrives in a Deadpool-reminiscent, black-and-red color scheme.
Akin to other Nike Sportswear offerings from the last six months, the pair features an even mix of the aforementioned tones across its upper and sole unit. All of the palm tree-inspired TPU overlays across the profiles opt for a glossy black that also lands on miniature swoosh branding. Ruby-colored flair enters the mix near the quarter panel, running up the sides to engulf much of the heel. Emblems on the top of the tongue also join the mix.
Underfoot, the color story stays the same. The midsole's foam component takes notes from the mudguard for their pitch-dark makeover. Whale tail-shaped mid-foot shanks, however, indulge in some of the red contrast from up-top. Tuned Air and Air Max units further favor the bold hue, rounding out the two-tone offering from the Sportswear division.
