Nike’s recent quarterly results haven’t reflected the standard it’s known for, but the brand has already begun outlining its path forward. Early signs, like the rollout of newer concepts such as Nike Mind and the Air Liquid Max, suggest a renewed focus on product and innovation. That direction continues with a key leadership move.

Nike has announced that Andy Caine will step into the role of Chief Innovation Officer at NIKE, Inc. beginning April 12, reporting to Chief Innovation, Design and Product Officer Phil McCartney.

Caine brings more than two decades of experience within the company, having worked across both performance and lifestyle categories. His track record includes involvement in major Mercurial developments, as well as contributions to Air-focused projects like Air VaporMax, Air Liquid Max, and Air Max 1000. Most recently, he served as VP and Creative Director for Nike Sportswear, where he helped translate performance-driven ideas into broader consumer product.

The appointment reflects a continuation of Nike’s internal approach to innovation, elevating a long-tenured leader with experience across multiple categories. Caine is known within the company for balancing immediate product needs with longer-term development, while also building teams around new ideas.

In his new role, he will oversee innovation efforts across Nike’s brands, sports categories, and product platforms. Working alongside the broader Innovation, Design and Product leadership group, Caine will focus on advancing performance while maintaining a consistent athlete-first approach.

The move signals a broader push from Nike to strengthen its innovation pipeline as it looks to regain momentum.
