California's Renegade Running Gets Its Own Nike Footwear Drop on April 1
Since the beginning, running has been at the center of NIKE, Inc. as an operation. Innovating for athletes has always been a focus, but that's brought about camaraderie between everyone involved—from those behind the brand to those with a mutual interest in anything branded with a Swoosh.
Renegade Running, a premier running store with locations in Oakland and Los Angeles, Calif., has been a hub for this bond since Spring 2020. Founded by Victor Diaz, a former public school educator, Renegade is much more than its two brick-and-mortar outposts—it's community, a safe haven, and first point-of-entry to sport for many.
Earlier in the month, Diaz and team invited the public to experience their Nike ReCreate capsule, a project inspired by a shared commitment to sustainable fashion. Today, the Swoosh has unveiled a footwear collection with Renegade—its first-ever with a Run Specialty Group (RSG) partner.

The Nike Running capsule by Renegade sees narrative-driven takes on the ultra-cushioned Vomero Premium and raceday-ready VaporFly 4.
Both styles—currently available via Nike.com in a variety of color options—draw inspiration from Diaz's Mexican heritage. The duo indulges in a dark brown base and vibrant orange accents—a color execution that aims to capture Renegade's rebellious spirit and the deserts found across Mexico. Orange, an important color in Nike's history, also animates performance innovations across both running shoes—including Air Zoom units and the carbon Nike Flyplate.
Additionally, the Vomero Premium and VaporFly 4 feature large "Renegade" branding on the medial profiles. The latter's reflective heel tape nods to historic architecture in Mexico with its patterned finish. The phrase "Barrios Unidos" —"United Neighborhoods" in English—appears throughout the collaboration with the goal of inciting connection between communities— runners or otherwise—to create a better future collectively.
Enjoy a closer-look at Renegade's Nike footwear collection ahead. Pairs will release in-store at Renegade Doors (45 Grand Ave in Oakland; 3118 W Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake) and online via renegade-running.com on Wednesday, April 1. A wider Nike SNKRS and select retailer launch takes place on Saturday, April 4.
