The lasting legacy of Ye's "Red October" Air Yeezy II from 2014 cannot be understated. Recently, the popular Nike Vomero 5 emerged in an all-red makeover that evokes images of the mythical pair from 12 years ago.
The person formerly known as "Kanye West" never owned "Triple Red" footwear, but his co-sign was the most-visible and coveted in the 2010s. As such, the tonal ruby ensemble he applied to his final Nike collaboration has gone on in history, inspiring a colloquial "Red October" nickname for any sneaker—especially Nike—done in a fully-red style.
The newly-surfaced Vomero 5 features slightly-different shades of red across its breathable mesh and comfortable Cushlon sole unit, but the "Red October" moniker applies. The eye-catching style is sure to be accompanied by other Nike Sportswear pairs done in similar finishes, making a strong case for some of the most-visible footwear of Summer 2026.
