In mid-February 2025, Reebok made the sportswear industry stand still when it announced the launch of Engine A, its first performance-basketball silhouette in over a decade. Since then, the heritage brand has found success with the Angel Reese 1 signature series, but it hasn't abandoned the design that helped it regain its footing on the hardwood.
To this end, the Reebok Basketball team has been hard at work, building upon last year's platform. Today, the brand announces Engine A 26, a familiar model modified to enhance performance for hoopers of all levels.
Wear-tested and co-signed by Team RBK.B, which includes Matas Buzelis Lexie Brown, and Tre Mann, Reebok Engine A 26 has been fine-tuned for players seeking explosive power and speed. The shoe's design team has combined responsive cushioning with supportive features for high-intensity performance on-court. Reebok’s trademarked ERS™ technology platform couples with an updated drop-in SuperFloat POD in the forefoot to provide all-game comfort, improved court-feel, and enhanced responsiveness at any stage in the game.

In messages exchanged with Instagram account @sneaker_speculation, Michael Hesterberg, Designer Director at Reebok Basketball, shared the following about Engine A 26:
"[I'd] describe them [as] a speedy battle tank, we had an aggressive guard in mind that more concentrated on getting downhill to the rim and finishing in traffic...The shoe is overall lower to the ground than [E]ngine A...and the more prominent heel branding references the [B]rutus, our retro for the season."
The Engine A 26 basketball shoe launches on Friday, Feb. 27, on Reebok.com. Three distinct colorways—"Cheetah," "Atomic Tangerine/Digital Lime," and "Chalk/Black"—will be available for between $120 and $130. Additional colorways will drop throughout the remainder of the year.
