Messi's Last Argentina Jersey Revealed Ahead of Match Against Benin

Lionel Messi announced his retirement from the Argentina national football team on Aug. 31. The Argentine Football Association (AFA) followed up the news by organizing one final match for the 39-year-old footballer, which is scheduled to take place in his home country on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

adidas Football has prepared a special-edition Argentina Home #10 jersey for the occasion, unveiled through Messi's social media channels.

It's unclear if some iteration of the shirt will actually be worn by the 2022 World Cup™ winner against Benin at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, but what's already been determined is that fans of the Argentine great are already setting money aside to purchase the jersey whenever it releases.

As with other Messi x adidas product, a teaser visual for the shirt's design reveals several story-driven elements. The colors of Argentina's flag are featured proudly in a common vertical stripe layout, while rays of the sun are printed into the breathable fabric. A golden nameset and jersey number appear on the back of the shirt, with the latter donning a subtle, but cleverly-placed set of goat horns to further bolster Messi as the "Greatest of All-Time" within the world of football.
