On Tuesday, June 23, in Portugal's 2026 World Cup™ Group Stage match against Uzbekistan, Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7) became the first player to score a goal in six World Cup™ competitions. To celebrate the occasion, Nike has prepped two golden pairs of the Mercurial Superfly series: the Superfly 1 RGN and current Superfly 11.
As with handfuls of other Swoosh-sponsored athletes in the global tournament this summer, the 41-year-old Portuguese superstar has been wearing the pink "Breakout" Mercurial Superfly 11 football boots in the 2026 World Cup™; he scored two goals in the innovative pair against Uzbekistan. Some spectators might've been wondering why CR7 hadn't gotten his own special pair of boots like Lionel Messi and his adidas F50 "El Último Tango" project, but it seems Nike was waiting for Cristiano Ronaldo to set a record no other player had achieved before in order to reveal the golden Mercurial Superfly duo.
What's particularly impressive about the Portuguese athlete's feat is that he's scored all nine of his World Cup™ goals (so far) while wearing the Nike Mercurial franchise of boots. This achievement is special because CR7 has long been synonymous with the speed, goalscoring, and lethalness associated with the line.
Players like Kylian Mabppé and Vini Jr. may be the line's modern faces, but Cristiano Ronaldo helped lay the groundwork post-Ronaldo Nazário.

The commemorative Mercurial Superfly 11 for CR7 follows a "Gold Scorpion" concept.
For the uninformed, the scorpion has been an important motif in Nike Football history, especially as it relates to the brand's street football tournaments and ad campaigns. The deadly creature was featured in the Swoosh's star-studded "Polaroid" spot ahead of the 2026 World Cup™ kick off, with a recent Air Max sneaker collection also nodding to the predator's connection to the Swoosh.
The limited-edition Superfly 11 features a thematic FlyWeave Ultra upper, with shades of gold running from forefoot to heel. Large Swoosh branding on the lateral profile opts for a shimmering finish as well, while the low-cut collar sees its front component stamped with a custom "C" badge that plays on the Portugal national football team's crest.

The same custom logo takes over the external Air Zoom unit underfoot. The bulk of the sole plate and studs is done in a similar golden finish as the upper. Elsewhere, the medial heel sees large ornate "CR7" branding.
It's expected that the "Gold Scoprion" Superfly 11 for Cristiano Ronaldo is limited to just 2,026 pairs in honor of the year in which the footballer made history. A Nike SNKRS for release date has been set for Saturday, June 27.
