Ohio State Gets Its Own Nike Air Max 90 and Matching Football Cleat

Nike is showing Ohio State some love with a matching Air Max 90 duo arriving just in time for football season.

Leading the release is the Nike Air Max 90 “Guardian of the Gates,” a University Red and Black take on the classic runner inspired by Ohio State and its home stadium. The pair dresses the upper in red suede with black overlays, matching black laces and a black Swoosh, while red detailing continues through the midsole.

The theme gets more specific across the details. A “Defend The Shoe” patch appears on the tongue, while the Swoosh takes on a sharp, teeth-like treatment. Ohio State branding also appears at the heel, tying the pair directly back to the Buckeyes.

Nike is also taking the look to the field with the Max 90 Vapor “Ohio State.” The cleat combines Air Max 90 styling with a football-ready Vapor build, carrying over the same University Red and Black palette, “Defend The Shoe” tongue branding and aggressive Swoosh treatment.

Underfoot, the football version swaps the Air Max setup for a cleated platform built around an Air Zoom Vapor plate, with widely positioned studs designed for responsiveness and speed on the field.

The Air Max 90 shoes release November 3 at 10 ET, with the Air Max 90 “Guardian of the Gates” priced at $140 while the Max 90 Vapor “Ohio State” releases on November 6 for $200 on SNKRS US.

The duo arrives alongside of Ohio State’s upcoming Nike Air Foamposite Pro release on November 5.
